The Situation: A Condo She No Longer Needed

Melanie reached out to DCI Properties after getting married and moving into her husband’s home.

She still owned her condo in London, Ontario, but now that she wasn’t living there anymore, she had to decide what to do with it. Keeping the property meant continuing to pay for a place she rarely used.

Like many homeowners in that situation, she briefly considered renting the condo. But after hearing stories about challenges with the landlord-tenant board and difficult rental situations, she decided that becoming a landlord wasn’t something she wanted to take on.

Instead, she started exploring the idea of selling the property.

Hearing About DCI Through Word of Mouth

As Melanie talked to people about what she should do with the condo, something interesting happened, the name DCI Properties kept coming up.

Someone suggested she look into selling to a private buyer and mentioned our company specifically.

Melanie decided to do some research. She checked the Better Business Bureau website and compared the ratings of different companies. She also reviewed our Google reviews before deciding to reach out and learn more about how the process worked.

During our first conversation, she explained that she was hoping to sell the condo by the end of the year so she wouldn’t have to keep carrying the property.

The condo itself needed some updating. It hadn’t been renovated in a while and felt a bit dated, but it was in a nice building and the balconies in the complex had recently been redone.

A Different Experience Than Listing With an Agent

Before contacting us, Melanie had spoken with a real estate agent about listing the condo.

That conversation didn’t leave her feeling very comfortable. She felt pressured to spend money on repairs and upgrades before putting the property on the market, and the discussion left her feeling like the condition of the home was being judged rather than understood.

When we visited the condo, the conversation was very different.

Instead of focusing on what needed to be fixed or updated, we simply walked through the property together and talked about her situation and what she was hoping to accomplish.

After seeing the condo, we were able to make an offer for the property in its current condition.

Melanie took a couple of days to think it over before deciding that a private sale would be the easiest and least stressful option for her.

A Smooth Closing

Once everything was agreed upon, the process moved forward smoothly. The sale closed at the beginning of January, allowing Melanie to move on without having to prepare the condo for showings, coordinate renovations, or manage a listing.

She was able to move forward with her new chapter while we began the renovations needed inside the unit.

💬 Melanie’s Experience

Melanie later left a five-star review, reflecting the smooth and straightforward experience.

Why This Matters

Many homeowners find themselves with a property they no longer need – after a move, a marriage, or another life change.

While renting or listing on the market can sometimes make sense, those options also come with added time, uncertainty, and expenses.

For Melanie, selling the condo privately allowed her to move forward without taking on the responsibilities of being a landlord or investing money into renovations.

Sometimes the simplest solution is simply moving on.

If you’re considering selling a property and want to explore your options, we’re always happy to have a conversation.
