The Challenge: Coordinating a Sale From Across the Country

When Teresa first reached out to DCI Properties about helping her brother sell their family home in Strathroy, ON, she was calling from Alberta.

Theresa’s brother Terry was living at the property, but it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to live on his own. The property has transferred to Terry a few years earlier when their mom passed away.

Teresa wanted to help Terry move out to Alberta so he could be closer to family and have more support. But coordinating the sale of a house from another province can quickly become complicated.

With a busy job, children of her own, and life already full in Alberta, Teresa wanted to avoid flying back and forth to Ontario just to manage the property and figure out what to do with the house.

The home itself was a small two-bedroom, one-bath detached property in Strathroy. Terry had previously had roommates living in the house, but they had recently moved out after causing some issues. Teresa needed a solution that would allow them to sell the property quickly and move Terry out to Alberta without adding more stress to an already emotional situation.

Our Solution: A Straightforward Process From Start to Finish

After receiving one of our mailers, Teresa decided to reach out to learn more about how the process worked.

We had a great initial conversation where Teresa explained the situation and what she was hoping to accomplish for her brother. From there, our team arranged a visit to the property to walk through the home and assess its condition.

After reviewing the property, we were able to present Teresa with a clear offer that worked for their timeline. Because Teresa was coordinating everything from Alberta, we made sure communication stayed simple and transparent.

We were also able to involve Terry in the process so he understood what was happening and could ask any questions he had. At one point we even held a conference call with both Teresa and Terry so everyone could talk through the details together.

One important request was that Terry be able to leave behind some furniture that he wasn’t able to move or sell before relocating. We were happy to include that in the agreement so the move could be easier for him.

With those details in place, the sale moved forward smoothly and the property closed just a few days ago.
